They say you can only make a first impression once. Grand Prince Hotel in Tokyo...triple gazillion "WOW!" River Hall Dorm, Columbia University...hmmmmmmmm....still trying to let the differences sink in to my head.
The room, a single, okay...no sharing of the room.Nice walls, huh?
That is cool. A/C unit in the window.
Garden view of someone's backyard. Where is the bathroom? Oh, we share with the FLOOR! And, the bathroom is a "single." How early will I need to get up? I should have brought towels...they gave me ONE. Will I get more or should I have brought my own?
I left Norfolk ON TIME (woo hoo!) on an bumpy straight flight to Newark. I sat next to a chiropractor from Chesapeake. He gave me a pillow for my back...his call. The bumpy ride led us to talk a little more than I normally would on a plane. He was headed to Montreal and insisted that if I needed a chiropractor that I check out his office on Battlefield Blvd.
Newark airport...easy to navigate. Luggage...easily found. Shuttle...quick and efficient. Long ride into Manhattan...cheap and uneventful.
Drop off at Carmen Hall, Columbia University....impressive. Oh, your room is at River Hall 2 blocks away. AND, the name is not on the building. I arrived and used my security key to enter the building. Security guard at the desk....gives the okay to use the elevator. Thank goodness...50 pounds and a backpack up 3 flights??? I do miss the Grand Prince Hotel already.
I'm off to meet the coordinator and find out the schedule for this evening. Street life looks pretty interesting. I'm going to go check it out.

Hi, Mrs. Graves! It seems like you're having fun...
Too funny........the picture of the toilet seat is posted upside down........until I got my bearings, I was thinking "How in the world can THAT work!" I am looking forward to hearing more. The AC unit in your window made me feel hot..do those things really work?
