We started the morning at the Decatur House. We had a wonderful presentation by two women protraying two urban slaves. The urban slave had a little bit more freedom to move around than the rural slave. They dressed better and were generally fed better. The second picture is the outside of the slave quarters at the Decatur House.
We toured a lot...but we stopped at the FDR Memorial. This is one of the newer monuments. The first statue of FDR in the wheelchair was purchased solely by the Disabled Americans Association. They felt the monument didn't truly show how he was disabled. Our guide said that many Americans did not know that he was disabled, because the press kept his private life separate from his public life.
The second statue is of a breadline...you know that.
The Supreme Court.
The Eyes and Ears of the White House...Eleanor Roosevelt.
More pictures and stuff to come...time to present a project.
