Time to Go...

School is OUT for summer - for me it is. To ALL of you, have a wonderful JAMBOREE! Hot! Hot! Hot! I will be thinking about you while I am in my 1oth hour on the plane. We will fly non-stop from San Francisco to Tokyo. It is supposed to take 10 hours and 55 minutes. That is a long SIT!

Okay, so I spent a good bit of the morning looking for an adapter for the computer. My friend in Tokyo said I didn't need one, but I want to be extra prepared. Radio shack had one for every country...but I knew I could get one for less than $19.95. Off I went to Taylor's Do-It-Center. The "electrical" aisle was not overflowing with anything. I asked for help and the man said..."I don't know if we have one." BUT, he found one. It had about a quarter of an inch of dust on it. I said "YOU are the MAN" and he said, "that is why I'm the MANager!" :) BTW it was $4.95.

I have spent a good part of the day trying to fit 60 pounds of stuff into a 50 pound suitcase. Once I am able to give my "gifts" away, I will be in better shape. My daughter was great helping me "put together" outfits. She has been especially helpful throughout this whole ordeal. Thanks Sami!

Tonight, I must finish my proposal and double check my paperwork. I have a "plan" that I must turn in tomorrow in San Francisco. Does the homework ever end?

I am hoping you will tag along with me as I start my journey in Tokyo and then go to NYC, DC, Boston, Nashville, and Mission, TX. I start at 4 am tomorrow. I don't know how much internet access I will have, but I look forward to sharing my adventure with you. Thank you KB, Sara, Elliott, Cameron, Megan, Richmond, and Bethie for "tuning in." I enjoy the comments. Cameron, I will be looking for that chocolate!
See you all...
PS The picture is of my family waving goodbye to me.
PSS I am super proud of all of you! Amazing, Outstanding, Outrageously Excellent SOL scores!

Have a great trip! It's quite the adventure...I've taken my kids twice to Japan and we loved it both times. Enjoy your flight...both times I did it I had kids on my lap. Although the first time, they passed my daughter (1 yr) up and down the plane and she loved all her Japanese "grandmas". The food is amazing...and the people truly hospitable and friendly. You won't want to come home :)
