Questions Answered

The language barrier is a problem. However, many of the young people understand some English. They are certainly more helpful than the older people. I can say only a few phrases.

I will be addressing the parents of an elementary school on Wednesday. I think I will have an interpreter! I hope so.

Yes, I'm hungry. I have lost some weight... I have tried the fish and the sushi. I can say I did it, but won't do it again.

The Japanese toilet at the ballgame was a balancing challenge. :)

I will eventually figure out how to answer your questions directly....when I have a constant stream of internet service. Right now, I just have bits here and there.

I am off to the train station now for an adventure to Kamakura. The high today is supposed to be 81 degrees. It is rainy season here, but so far, it has only rained one day. Sweet.

I'll be traveling with 3 new friends. One is very adventurous. He is determined to do every Japanese thing possible. Last night he ate Puffer Fish (I think I have that right). It is a poisonous fish. It was so fresh, it still had a heart beat. I swear...I saw it! He first ate the skin, then sashimi, then they fried the rest. Ick! We have been advised to not go to a certain part of Tokyo...guess where he has been every night BY HIMSELF! These young people!

Have fun today on you day off! Remember that Sunday is Father's Day. Happy Father's Day Doug Graves!

It seems like you had a lot of fun at he baseball game and subway- I was just talking to cameron about the whole sushi deal...I could eat a ton of sushi but then regret it the next day. All of the shrines seem very peaceful and quiet. And i have a question... was the man that survived the bombing of Hiroshima talking to you guys in Japanese? Cameron and i were also talking about how you can only say a few phrases- we should have let you use our Japanese language books! I cant wait for more stories!(and i agree with what cameron said...)
